City Square Residences: Our 2023 Apartment Viewing 🤙🇮🇳

On one apartment-hunting trip in January 2023, we went to City Square Residences near Little India. We liked the convenience of the location. We were less sure about living in such a large development.

The first thing I noticed was the entrance: gates that opened with a card or face recognition. I had not encountered that arrangement in a condo before. With 910 apartments, the place operated on a different scale from the small home we were looking for.

A surprisingly comfortable place inside

Once through the gates, I found the grounds pleasant and surprisingly cosy. The development was large, but the spaces between the buildings did not feel as overwhelming as I had expected.

There were generous shared facilities too. The function-room area reminded me of a small community centre, with event spaces, a gym, a billiard room and a rooftop terrace.

The apartment we viewed was 113 square metres, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The asking rent was S$6,900 a month at that 2023 viewing. It is a historical comparison, not a current rental offer.

The shopping centre nearby was convenient, and I could see the appeal of having so much around the corner. But our search was taking us towards something quieter and smaller.

We decided to keep looking. There was nothing wrong with wanting all those facilities; we simply did not want such a large development attached to them.
