Hot and humid 🥵
It’s very hot and humid in Singapore. When I moved, I never thought I’d be able to get used to this heat…
Interesting fact: in over three years of living in Singapore, I have not spent a single night without an air conditioner on. At my place, air conditioners are running all the time. And that’s not so cool.
But let’s get back to the heat. The Meteorological Service Singapore describes a typical daily range of about 31–33˚C in the daytime and 23–25˚C at night. The sea moderates the island’s climate, while humidity, cloud, rain and wind all affect how hot it feels. My own evenings and nights often felt warmer than the official minima. It is still amusing to wake before dawn, step onto a dark street and feel heat: my body had learned that darkness in the morning should mean cold.
Once, a more experienced expat told me: “Dude, don’t worry! Give it two years and you’ll get used to it.” And indeed! Exactly two years passed when I learned to feel the coolness in Singapore. It was so pleasant and unusual. I wonder how I will feel in the cold now?
