Invictus Dempsey Hill: Why We Chose the School

When my son changed schools, we were looking for a better balance between the school we wanted and the fees we could sustain. Invictus at Dempsey Hill felt like a promising answer.

I wrote about the move in July 2022. At the time, I described the annual tuition as approximately S$20,000. That is a historical figure from our family’s experience, not the school’s current price list.

A school among trees

The setting was what surprised me. Dempsey Hill had more open green space than I expected to find so close to the centre of Singapore. The low-rise campus, trees and lawns reminded me of a very neatly arranged summer camp.

We were choosing a school for one child and one family budget. The setting was one part of that choice.

Our earlier experience at Canadian International School had made the cost of education a very visible part of life here. Finding a more affordable option did not make school inexpensive, but it changed the calculation.

For a visit today

Invictus still lists its Dempsey Hill campus in its official contacts. For a current decision, use the school’s own admissions and fee information for the relevant year group, including any additional charges. The campus and prices in my old photographs cannot answer all of those questions.

What I remember most clearly is the space. I had expected another school building. I found myself thinking about summer camp, with a considerably more substantial invoice.
