Why ice cream in bread is not for me 🍦🍞

Many Singapore guides recommend ice cream in bread, an old-school street snack sold from carts around the city. I tried it, and it simply was not for me. The version I bought combined inexpensive ice cream with a soft, sweet bun whose texture I found oddly plastic-like. Plenty of people love the snack for its taste, price or nostalgia; my reaction is only about my own portion and preferences.

What surprised me even more was the range of ice cream in ordinary grocery stores. In 7-Eleven, FairPrice or Cold Storage, you can find everything from inexpensive sticks to premium French, Swiss and American brands. My own taste runs firmly towards the richer supermarket versions.

Should you try ice cream in bread? Of course. Just do not blame Singapore if, like me, you end up preferring the freezer aisle.
